I am Mickaëlle, and I’m originally from Réunion. I’ve lived in Brixham for nearly 15 years and have over 25 years of teaching experience, first in visual arts in France and then in French as a Foreign Language in England. I obtained my PGCE from the University of Exeter in 2015.
Alongside teaching, I’m a textile artist with a particular interest in the role of creativity in individual and collective wellbeing. I recently completed a Master’s degree in Art, Health and Wellbeing at Marjon University.
My teaching approach is creative, supportive and learner-centred. I aim to build on each learner’s strengths, adapt to individual needs and encourage confidence, interaction and cultural discovery.
After studying history, literature and languages at universities in the UK and Paris, I taught in the French university system for a number of years before moving to Exeter, where I have been teaching French for the last ten years. I aim to make my lessons at the Alliance française as interactive as possible, helping students develop both confidence in their French and an appreciation of French language and culture.
I come from Vendée. I hold a PhD in medieval literature, have taught French language and culture at the University of Exeter, and joined the Alliance Française in 2025. I love languages, the way they expand my world. I have a curious mind: when I’m not in the classroom exchanging ideas with students, I spend time progressing my research. I also like painting.
I am from a small place in the Alps called the Ubaye Vallée. I grew up across Brussels, Paris and London, becoming a fluent English speaker. I love learning languages and understanding how much a culture is expressed through language. Most recently I have taken up learning Arabic. I enjoy exploring etymological origins, leading creative language learning games and learning from students and their own experience!
Originally from the Paris region, I joined Alliance Française Devon in 2017. As a qualified DELF, DALF and TCF examiner, I believe that language learning should be engaging and interactive. I place particular emphasis on speaking practice in class, as I believe that regular communication is the key to building confidence.
Passionate about languages and different cultures, I enjoy sharing not only the French language but also the richness of Francophone cultures. My aim is to create a friendly, supportive and motivating learning environment where students feel confident to participate and develop their language skills:
